Which metal items can be recycled?
Now that you know which metals to look for, you can start thinking about old items to recycle. Lucky for you, there’s a good chance that your household contains several metal items that can be repurposed.
Copper pipes
Scrap copper pipes and tubing are one of the more common metal items that can be found in homes. Since copper is highly valuable, it will typically be priced higher than other metals. The next time your kitchen or bathroom undergoes renovation, be sure to collect and recycle the old pipes!
Aluminum cookware
If you’re planning on replacing your old pots and pans, please consider recycling them at a local scrap facility. Once they are properly cleaned and free of contaminants, we’ll handle the rest!
Brass plumbing and fixtures
You can find brass in household hardware such as faucets, plumbing, fittings, door handles, keys, and other fixtures. After an upgrade or renovation job, it’s a good idea to bring your brass to us for a good return. Because brass can be heavy, you can get a good price for your scrap material!
Steel products
As one of the most commonly used metals in the world, you will likely find steel all throughout your house. Furniture, appliances, automobiles, electrical equipment and many other items contain steel. Steel is 100% recyclable and can be repurposed endlessly! Because of this, it is an extremely economical metal to recycle.
Batteries
Recycling your batteries properly is very important as they contain various heavy metals such as zinc, lead, lithium, cobalt, and mercury. By bringing your batteries to us, we can recover them and keep these hazardous materials out of the environment. We also collect lead gel cells, lead acid batteries, steel case batteries, and lithium ion batteries.
E-waste

What metal items CAN’T be recycled?
While there are many metal items that can be repurposed, it’s also important to be aware of the items that cannot be recycled. If the item contains toxins, such as dirty paint cans, motor oil cans, radioactive metals, items that contain mercury, and contaminated pots and pans, the metal can no longer be collected for recycling. Instead, it should be disposed of properly at a hazardous waste centre. Recognizing these items will make the recycling process a lot easier.
